The University of Detroit Mercy is a private, Catholic university in Detroit, Michigan, sponsored by both the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and the Religious Sisters of Mercy. Founded in 1877, it is the largest Catholic university in Michigan. It has three campuses, where it offers more than a hundred academic degrees and programs of study in liberal arts, clinical psychology, business, dentistry, law, engineering, architecture, nursing and allied health professions.

In athletics, the university sponsors 17 NCAA Division I level varsity sports for men and women. It is a member of the Horizon League.
